Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Stevie is a 3 year old Mahogany sable male who was found as a stray in rural TN. It appears he may have been dumped there as he struggled to walk a long distance and could not run at all. He appeared to be in good health except for his hips. The orthopedist found that his left leg was dislocated from the hip joint and he also had a femoral neck fracture likely from an old injury. His right leg had severe hip dysplasia and was locked into place. He had surgery this week and is on his way to recovery to be a collie who can run and play again.
Stevie is a very friendly boy who likes to talk a lot! He weighs about 70lbs. This big boy is friendly with other dogs and people. He has not been cat tested. We are working on leash training and housebreaking because he had not had either when he arrived. He does pretty well in his run with no accidents and getting better on the leash. He is an excitable dog and if you pet him vigorously he barks and howls.
Stevie just never had the care he deserved and he will make an excellent family pet once recovered and with some training. He is heartworm negative, and otherwise in good health, and neutered.
He is currently being fostered in TN.
If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application on our website. Our organization is run by volunteers and it is hard for them to answer all the emails that come in about dogs. Once we receive your application, an interviewer will call you and try to answer any additional questions you may have.
