  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Cricket was adopted out almost a year ago and was unfortunately returned to us due to allergies of the owner. It was very sad because her owner loved her very much and tried everything she could to make it work, however, her health kept deteriorating. Luckily Cricket is a very young, social dog and she was able to go back with her original foster mom and she has fit right back in as if she never left.

Cricket is a terrier mix, possibly with Chihuahua. She is about 3 years old and originally came from the shelter in Martinez. She was just a skinny frail dog when we got her. Today she is a happy, self-assured young girl who loves people and other dogs. She loves playing with the other dogs in her foster home. And she is a great cuddle bug.

Cricket is housebroken and crate trained and she is just a terrific all around dog. She is really a dog that can fit almost anywhere. She loves car rides, toys and walks. There were children in her previous home and she did great with them. Cricket is a very loving dog. And the person who ends up with her will be very luck. She is very special.

Cricket is spayed, microchipped, and has been on heartworm preventative since we tested her before she was adopted. Her vaccines are due this month and will be brought current before she goes into her new home. Her adoption fee is $175. If you would like to meet Cricket please complete an application on our website at http://www.adoptapet.com/chihuahuarescueandrehab

About Chihuahua Rescue and Rehab

About Our Rescue Group...

CR&R was developed due to the overwhelming overpopulation of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in our county shelters. Many never even make it to the adoption floor because of shelter over crowding of the breed. Chihuahuas are currently the #2 breed being euthanized in our shelters today.

Additionally, the cost to get these small dogs ready for adoption is astronomical. Blood panels for seniors, dentals on nearly 75% of the dogs along with the normal spay/neuter and vaccines.

The Director of CR&R is a Chihuahua lover herself and previously ran an all breed rescue but retired. But the fate of these wonderful dogs brought her back into the rescue world to try and make a difference.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month in Vacaville at PetSmart in the Nut Tree Plaza from 11am to 2pm. Located at 1621 E. Monte Vista Ave.

Please bring the entire family and your dogs to meet the dog you are interested in and make a day of it. The Nut Tree Plaza is a fun place to visit.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is completing an on-line adoption application by going to our website at http://www.adoptapet.com/chihuahuarescueandrehab/. We do not show our dogs without it. Once your application is approved we will contact you to set up a meeting for your family and any other dogs in the home to meet the dog you are interested in. If all goes well and it seems to be the right match for you and the dog then we will set up arrangements to do a home visit and then the adoption of the dog. Our home visits are not to further interrogate you but to make sure that your yard is safe and you are ready to bring a little dog into your home. Many people over look small little holes that tiny Chihuahuas can get out of. We want to help you prepare for your new family member and make the transition as smooth as possible. Our adoption fees are $150 for adult dogs and $175-$200 for puppies unless otherwise noted.
