Clancy's Story...
This sweet 4 month old, mixed breed (mom is a dachshund mix), neutered male, is currently 8 pounds, and ready to find his forever home. Found in South Texas running in the street with his littermates by a good samaritan. Only 4 survived their living conditions. Very good crated, but not yet potty trained. He is smart and eager to learn new things. Loves toys and playing with his siblings. Life on the street made him protective of his food, but he has not been overly aggressive. Sleeps soundly thru the night. Preferred home has a fenced yard and no children under 10 please. Clancy is currently in a foster home in San Antonio TX and can be transported once adopted.

Adoption fee is $170, and transport fee to the East coast is $185. Dog may be flown also, if desired, at airline rates. Contact Teresa at for an application or for additional information, or call Michelle at 210-535-5480.

Act quickly to adopt Clancy. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Clancy, a Troutville Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Troutville, or seeking a Dachshund puppy from a breeder in Troutville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troutville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troutville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troutville paves the way for another one to be saved.
