Bitsy's Story...
Shelly is one super happy girl waiting to meet her forever family. She's only a year old, has a black and white coat, weighs approx. 35 pounds and is an incredibly sweet hound mix. She's great with other dogs and seems to love people of all ages. She's a great size of not too big, not too small and a perfect age since she already knows so much. Shelly is already counting the days until the holidays and her biggest and most important wish on her list is to be able to spend it with someone who loves her. Please come and meet the best present you've ever given yourself.

For more information or to see Shelly, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. After reviewing the application, staff will contact you—typically within two business days— to make an appointment to visit the farm where our dogs and horses are kept.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bitsy, a Fairfax Jack Russell Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier puppy from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
