Comet's Story...
Comet is a Beagle mix with a cool tan and white coat. He's approx. 2 yrs old and weighs approx. 20 pounds. He came in with 2 other Beagles when they were no longer wanted. They have lived outside their whole life and have only seen the good life from a distance. He may take some time to get used to being part of a family and not just a lawn ornament but he would love to be given a chance to show you he can make the change. He's good with other dogs and is very curious to know you and what you are doing. This boy will eventually be a wonderful companion but only with your help can he get there. Come and meet Comet and his companions and maybe you will be the lucky person who changes his whole life and yours for the better.

For more information or to see Comet, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. After reviewing the application, staff will contact you—typically within two business days— to make an appointment to visit the farm where our dogs and horses are kept.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Comet, a Fairfax Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
