Eli is a 10 y/o black lab. Though he is 10 he has fabulous energy. He absolutely loves toys. He runs for them, with them and will hide them or try to bury them. His face is high lighted with beautiful silver and his coat is full and luscious. He is good with children and dogs as he lives with several of each. He is a large boy at 82lbs and thinks he is a lap dog. He wants love and loves to get it. Eli was given his name by the shelter we rescued him from so he is learning that is what his name is. He has no food aggression; free fed with the other dogs. He will guard a toy he is really interested in; a bark to let you know it's his. He is a fantastic dog. Lazy is not his style and he loves life as we know him now. His adoption fee is $120

About Harter's Hospice Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

My name is Carla. I started this rescue 7/5/15 due to the abundance of elderly dogs dumped in shelters or surrendered by owners due to the dogs' age and/or ailments. They are the first to be euthanized.
I am a nurse that works with the elderly. I quit my job in order to do this and give these seniors we take in the best they can have. They are sweet souls that deserved to be nothing but loved and pampered until their time is here.
Many or our rescues prosper and are no longer hospice dogs. Medication, any surgeries to fix ailments, vitamins, good food and a warm bed with loving surroundings help them pull through and thrive. It is incredibly rewarding to watch a senior blossom again. I believe in life and I believe in love. These dogs have my heart completely.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are at Petsmart in Crystal City Mo on Fridays and Saturdays.
They are seniors so we are careful not to stress them at events. We will always make time for a meet and greet in a central location or in the foster home at their convenience.
The dogs are located in St Louis County and surrounding areas and Illinois

Our Adoption Process...

We charge very small fees for our adoptions. The fees are based on the age and life expectancy of the dog. They range from $100-150. Each dog comes altered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, with heartguard and flea/tick prevention of our choosing.
We require an application and conversation. We will do a home visit to make sure the home is appropriate and safe for our dog. We will check vet and personal references.
We request a signed document that the dog be returned to the rescue and not taken to a shelter should it not be a fit later on after the adoption.
