Petey Picasso is a handsome, 9-year-old, 20-pound gentleman who came to us after hopping around from family member to family member after his human mom died. Since coming to his foster home, he’s been a perfect little guy! He gets along well with non-dominant dogs, though he prefers to be his human’s number one!

This little guy loves to play fetch and play with toys. He plays a bit excitable with them but does give them up to his person, especially for you to throw the ball. At night, his foster mom covers him with a blanket and if she doesn’t do it fast enough, he’ll do it himself! He is crate trained but whines a bit when you first put him in – he does settle down and does sleep through the night easily.

Petey does well on a leash and would make a great companion for walks. He does have a floating kneecap in one leg and had had surgery in the past on the other leg for the same condition, but they don’t seem to bother him at all. This is fairly common in small-breed dogs.

This fellow would be perfect for someone who likes light exercise but also enjoys a good snuggle on the couch. Petey truly just wants to be with his person at all times and becomes attached to you easily. He has such an open heart and truly wants to love. Petey has a wonderful personality with a cute face to boot!

Yes to non-dominant dogs (he wants to be his human's #1), unknown to cats and kids maybe 10+ because he plays rough with the ball and if you're not careful he'll give you an unintentional pinch when he grabs the ball or toy from you.

For more information, you can e-mail Petey is being fostered in the Washington, NC area.

The adoption fee will be $275.00.

Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions.

The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website

Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma.

We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them.

Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.

About BTRET of Florida

About Our Rescue Group...

Our main goal is to save Boston Terriers but we also accept Boston mixes. We take owner surrenders and pull from shelters (we'll never leave one behind in a shelter to die, even if it's injured or a senior). We also take in abandoned animals and help other rescues who have saved Bostons and can't get them adopted. We treat all of our Bostons like family members and we do what we can to help the senior dogs live their lives out comfortably.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have no physical facility, all our animals are in private foster homes throughout the state of Florida.

Our Adoption Process...

Online application which requires 3 personal references, a vet reference and all animals in the home must be spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines and on heartworm preventative.

If these steps are all approved, then we do a home visit, have the adopter sign a contract and pay the adoption fee prior to picking up the dog from the foster home.
