Mowgli's Story...
Faithful, polite helper, comfortable companion.

Mowgli is a beautiful, light persimmon-colored cat who shared his “hakuna matata” (“no worries”) personality upon arrival at the shelter. While some cats take some time to get acclimated Mowgli swung in as though he’d seen this jungle before. He gets along well with other cats, moves about a room comfortable and relaxed, and when you least expect it he’ll slip into a chair with you, plop down next to your leg, sling his back legs loosely out to the side, and happily look at whatever your looking at. He just wants to hang out.

Working on a puzzle? Reading the instructions for a bundt cake? Trying yet again to adjust that cranky carburetor? Mowgli is a polite and intelligent cat that has the loveable gift of being just as interested in the same thing YOU are interested in. Won’t you let this well-mannered man for all seasons help you see the forest for the trees?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mowgli, a Houston Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Houston, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
