Update: Magoo continues to thrive with his foster family. He is good with other dogs, but there may be an adjustment period where the other dog needs to learn that Magoo isn't bumping into them on purpose, he just can't see them. He is pretty good (and improving) on leash and enjoys his multiple daily walks. Since he's heartworm positive this has been the only way to help him expend energy. He trusts his handler, who must warn him of parked cars or trash cans at the curb. He has learned that "step" means there's something coming up he must either step up or down for. Most people we meet on the street ask about his happy tail and have no idea that he is blind. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and loves to cuddle for TV time. He also enjoys supervising his human during study time; if they just pull a chair into his room, Magoo does the rest. The dog loves sitting in chairs.
From transporter: Magoo is a sweet, curious, strong boy. He calmed a bit and took a nap during the ride. Magoo can be a little mouthy as he learns about his surroundings, but he's very gentle.
Update: Mr Magoo is handsome, affectionate and sweet. His appears to be almost completely blind but quickly learns the basic layout of his surroundings. He also is not the least bit perturbed by encountering immovable objects. That just means shake it off and try a different angle. He often seems to sense or be able to see enough shapes to know when he's approaching an object. After getting a decent walk today with the resident dogs, he has settled nicely and rested under his foster mom's desk.
