Border Collie, Lab mix with some hound dog in him!
He is a very loyal, affectionate, loving, active, and cuddly dog! Dawson was retrieved from death row in Maury Co. due to having heart worms and no family. When he was rescued by Proverbs, he immediately went to his foster home where he quickly learned how to be a loved family member. Dawson LOVES to be by your side at all times, is a lap dog (if you sit down, he wastes no time to jump in your lap and cuddle), loves to take walks, play outside, play with his stuffed animals, and is very eager to please. Dawson has picked up quickly on norms and commands, but could use some basic training as his heart worm treatment prevented him from being able to fully engage in training.
Dawson needs a bit of assistance with jumping and not pulling his leash on walks. Dawson would make an AMAZING guard dog. He sleeps with one eye open and always lets you know when someone is outside. His foster has a bull mastiff that weighs 120 lbs. and feels safer with Dawson than the bullmastiff- who is supposed to be a natural guard dog! Dawson does wonderfully with children, all adults, and other dogs. He has never shown any signs of aggression (except on his stuffed animals).
Dawson does get a bit too excited around cats, so a cat free home would be best for Dawson. Dawson is an amazing animal, friend, and soon to be pet.
If you want a loyal best friend, look no further!
