Flip is approximately 12-months-old. He is in foster care with another dog and has not been exposed to cats. Flip has spurts of puppy energy and loves to have fun! But he's also great at snuggling on the couch and suntanning in the entryway. Flip loves every human he meets and is very trusting. He is a staff favorite at the vet clinics, the groomer, etc. Flip definitely isn't shy when it comes to giving kisses!
Flip is very food motivated and will do anything for a tasty treat. He's working on basic cues and house manners. Flip is crated for short periods of time throughout the day, a couple hours at most. He is learning to be comfortable in the crate. At bedtime, Flip sleeps very nicely in a dog bed in the bedroom.
Flip enjoys going for walks in the neighborhood and looks very handsome in his navy blue Freedom No-Pull Harness. He does much better during the second half of his walks vs. the first half, but he's making progress.
Flip is resilient and doesn't let his past get in his way of happiness! He doesn't hold any grudges. When we rescued Flip, he had a broken leg - based on the x-rays and the opinion of the vet staff, someone intentionally harmed Flip to cause his injury or something fell on Flip to cause his injury. He initially saw Dr. Stan at Mayfair Animal Hospital and then we saw an orthopedic specialist, Dr. Hurley, at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC). Flip was in a cast for 7-weeks and on very restricted activity. Once his cast was removed and his leg was healed, Flip got permission to start doing "normal" dog stuff (play, walk, etc.). He is having a great time and ready to find a forever home.
Please Note: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our rescue dogs we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think that it’s more important to get to know each dog as an individual and we will do our best to describe each of our rescue dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
