Moonlight is a wonderfully sweet, affectionate kitty who purrs and purrs. She'll give headbutts and chin swipes and just wants to be loved. That is as long as she knows and trusts you. If she doesn't feel safe she will growl and swat. For this reason we don't recommend small children or busy homes. We also suggest that you are an experienced cat owner or have the patience to learn. She has learned to accept another cat that was at the store with her, but she's having a hard time in foster where there are multiple cats. It's simply too much for her.
Moonlight has a condition called Feline eosinophilic granuloma. Her body overreacts to things she's allergic to and her immune system attacks her. This causes sores / ulcers in her mouth. She has been seen by a vet and has undergone two steroid treatments and is doing much better. We're not sure what triggers it, but we recommend glass or ceramic food and water dishes as plastic and metal can cause allergies. Also, a good limited ingredient grain free food to minimize the change of food allergies. She has been find since her treatment over two months ago.
