Ernie's Story...
Looking for a lab? Look at Ernie! He came all the way to Evanston from San Antonio, Texas along with his friend Bert, hoping to find his forever home. These two pups came from a shelter where they were buddies, and are now together in the same foster home. Ernie is a black lab mix, weighing 24 pounds at 4 1/2 months of age, so most likely he will be a medium-size, not large, adult. As you can see from his pictures, he is solid black.

His foster mom tells us Ernie is Mr. Personality! He has lots of spunk, with typical puppy energy, but overall he's a pretty mellow guy. He is very smart and quick to learn. He would love a family with kids who want to teach him tricks!

Ernie lives with 3 other dogs, 3 cats and 4 kids, and is used to lots of activity, so we know he would easily fit into a busy family! He is learning to walk on a leash, and is very close to being potty-trained. Because he is still young, he will need a home where someone is home part or all of the day to continue his house-training and work with him on basic obedience.

Ernie's adoption fee of $310 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, routine deworming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventative, microchip and neuter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ernie, a Mt. Prospect Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Mt. Prospect, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Mt. Prospect.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mt. Prospect already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mt. Prospect breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mt. Prospect paves the way for another one to be saved.
