My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kirby is a wonderful boy! He was found roaming the streets in a sketchy part of town in Houston, TX. He was horribly matted, his skin was infected and it appears that someone shot at him with a BB gun. Whatever happened in his past…he doesn’t hold it against the world. He loves people. He was roaming with a little friend who has been adopted in Wisconsin. Unfortunately Kirby was HW+ and had to stay behind for his treatment. Kirby has completed his heartworm treatment and is ready for his new life in Wisconsin!

Kirby is estimated to be approximately 3 years old. We believe that he is a schnauzer mix and he is 32 lbs. Kirby is a sweet soul. He is normally very calm. He is happy to lay by the kitchen table…or on the couch. He is not much of a talker. Sometimes he will play with other small dogs at his foster home…but mostly he keeps to himself. Kirby isn’t a huge fan of rambunctious pups…but he does like other laid back dogs and pups. Kirby loves affection. He loves to have his head and belly rubbed…but you have to offer it. He doesn’t often ask for it. He LOVES breakfast time though. He literally bounces to the dog food container!!!

Kirby loves to go on walks. He is great on a leash. He has not been around children or cats in his foster home in Texas. I think that Kirby would do well with older children.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a home visit and a meet and greet.
