Wagon is a 6-year-old, 10 pound Wire Hair Dachshund/Terrier mix and he's a TOTAL love bug! He's happy, wiggly and always smiling. Wagon has a different kind of smile because he's missing a portion of his lower jaw. The infection that led to this is gone, but his charming personality and his zest for life are definitely not! As long as Wagon's food is soft, he's good to go. Wagon does walk very nicely on a leash, and he even gets excited to see how fast he can run for short bursts if you want to. Mostly, he's a stop and smell the roses kind of walker, and he loves his walks so much, he'll plant his feet for a minute to let you know he wants more. Wagon is great with other dogs! It is important to remember, however, that his lower jaw is very fragile, so intense play should be kept to a minimum. He'll roll over on his back submissively when it becomes too much for him. Wagon is also inclined to chase kitties, and he would do better in a home without one.Wagon is house-trained. He'll miss you when you go out, but he will settle. He'll do fine in a crate when you are home, but he prefers not to be left in one when you are not there. Wagon rides well in the car, too, where he still likes to cuddle in your lap! He will ride in a crate, too, as long as his person is near. Wagon smiles his crooked smile and kisses everyone he meets, giving tiny, dainty kisses. All he wants to do is curl up on their laps under a blanket while having his tummy rubbed. When his foster mom's friend babysat Wagon one night, he was in heaven amongst a bunch of little kids. He would be perfect for a mellow person who wants a lap dog. Wagon enjoys peace and quiet. You will find him cuddling or sleeping when he is not out on a walk. Sometimes he'll take himself off to bed early, instead of hanging out with you, if he has had an exciting day. Everywhere he goes, people say he is the sweetest dog they've ever seen. If you love cuddles, you will love Wagon. It's pretty impossible to be sad when you look at his goofy face. Wagon came to us from Salinas Animal Services.
