I'm Jewel and I'm a 10 year old yellow Labrador Retriever mix. I'm a very friendly and polite lady, but I'll be happy to play fetch with you or tug-o-war, and plush toys are my fav!! Oh, I like to wrestle in the leaves with you on brisk fall days. I'm house trained and I know "sit" and "down". We can work on my other commands when we get home if you like. I'm a little bit of scaredy-cat when it comes to thunderstorms, but I know you'll protect me, right!?! Can't wait to meet you--come soon!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
