Abby's Story...
Abby, named for the NCIS character, is an explorer and scientist. She started hanging around the neighborhood of one of our foster families, and was caught chasing chickens of a neighbor. Rather than have her be taken to a shelter, after no one claimed her, our foster family took her in. She is sweet and lovable. Abby enjoys being slung over the shoulder of the 10 year old and carried around the house. She coexists peacefully with the family dog. Abby has a very fierce desire to get out of the house on a regular basis. She may not be able to be indoor only, but she definitely needs to be kept away from chickens. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her shots and negative for FeLV and FIV. An application, safety homecheck, landlord approval if renting, and an adoption fee of $80 are required. You will not be disappointed if you want a family cat that gets along with other animals (except chickens, of course).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Abby, a Eureka Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Eureka, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Eureka.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Eureka already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Eureka breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Eureka paves the way for another one to be saved.
