MEET YODA!! This adorable little girl is about 13 weeks old. She was found clearly dumped in the country and found herself in need of some help. Aren’t her ears just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?? Yoda has been placed in a foster home and is starting to settle in; she’s already made friends with her foster siblings. Keep checking back for updates as we learn more about her personality.

If you’re interested in adopting Yoda, please fill out an application to adopt at labradorfriends.com/how-to-adopt

Foster Update 10/29: Yoda is fantastic! She hasn’t had a single accident in the house; she’ll go to the door & let us know when she has to go out. She runs right to her crate & sleeps all night without a sound. She loves other dogs & will immediately curl up with them – she’d be a great as a second dog. She also loves kids & will do well in a home with them. Yoda is petite, maybe mixed with Italian greyhound, so she will stay on the small side. She’s not a big barker & adjusted to her foster home right away. Pictures don’t do her justice – she has 4 white paws & white chest, & those crazy ears!

About Labrador Friends of the South, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) is an incorporated, non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of homeless Labrador Retrievers in the Southeast region. We are 501(c)(3) status.

LFS relies solely on donations, fundraising events and adoption fees to function and continue saving and placing homeless Labradors. We do not receive any state or federal funding. LFS is an all volunteer organization of people who give their time, effort, and love to protect the breed from the perils of pet over-population and irresponsible pet ownership. Our ultimate goal is to help these dogs find new, loving, forever homes.

The Labradors in our program receive veterinary care and temperament testing before being eligible for adoption. Since our goal is to place our Labradors in forever homes, we consider each Labrador’s history (if any), temperament, training and other skills, and energy level. We then assess each adopting family’s preferences, home environment, lifestyle, and personality in order to make the best possible match for a successful adoption.

Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Retriever mixes are the most popular family pets in the country. Unfortunately, this statistic means that they are the most likely to end up in the animal shelters as strays or unwanted pets. Perfectly healthy, sweet- tempered Labs are put to sleep everyday, sometimes without the benefit of a painless euthanasia drug, simply because there are not enough good homes for them.

We believe that there is a misconception that these Labs and Lab mixes have behavioral problems or extensive health issues that caused their owner's rejection. The truth is that the vast majority of these dogs find themselves suddenly abandoned by their owners and the only family and home they have ever known. This often happens because their owners lacked compassion or education about being a good, responsible pet owners. Sometimes these homeless pets are victims of unlucky circumstances or tragic events that caused them to become separated from loving families.

Please open your heart and your home to a Lab who needs your help. They will show you their appreciation with lots of tail wags, body wiggles and kisses. No matter the circumstances of their past, these homeless Labs are likely to bond completely and deeply with their new caretakers and make wonderfully affectionate and loyal companions for the rest of their lives.
