This cute little lady is Avery! She is a perfect size at only 28#, and an adorable mix of Pug and Rat Terrier. She loves to play, play, play with people and toys, but especially with other dogs! She is super fast, and loves to run and play chase with her foster dog siblings in the fenced yard. She can be a bit bossy as she figures out her place in the "pack", but she listens well and learns fast. She is housebroken and will wait by the door if she needs to go out, whining if you don't see her giving you the "time for potty" signal. Avery is crate trained, though she is extremely unhappy when she is crated and will try to find a way out. After a few minutes, she settles in the crate -- her foster family is crating her for shorter periods of time only, if they need to go out. Avery sleeps in a dog bed in her foster family's bedroom, or on the end of their bed if she would like -- she is quiet through the night and sleeps well. Avery loves to snuggle up, and has a playful, very affectionate personality-- she greets everyone she meets with a wag and kisses! She is fine with older kids, but in her joyful exuberance she may knock smaller kids down without meaning to. Avery has bursts of high energy, and would benefit from a basic obedience class or some fun classes (she would be amazing at agility or flyball!!!). Avery sits for treats after a walk and takes them gently, and sits for her food bowl to be put down. Avery is charming and lovely, and is an absolute delight!

AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess. BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
