Dancer's Story...
Hi People,
I’m a very handsome little bichon pup named Dancer who is ten pounds soaking wet and all of about two years young. (Mom thinks soaking wet is pretty funny ‘cause like most furkids I’m not thrilled with being wet!) But when it comes to being an entertainer and dancing to get attention, well you can probably figure out how I got my name (and it fits me perfectly!)
People that know me say I’m a loving, affectionate, adorable and playful little guy who is the best cuddle bug in the world. (And I AM!!) I love sweet talk and really respond to it.! I’m also a little guy who is a bit stubborn and needs someone who is savvy and knows how to be in charge. You see, I’m not just another cute bichon! I’m a bit more complicated than that!

Somewhere in my young life, and probably while I was surviving on the street, someone was not kind to me. When I was able to actually sleep they probably poked or prodded me. It was never done in kindness, that I will tell you! Now Mom and my BFK Aunties have been doing their best to let me know that those days are behind me – but I occasionally have ‘flash backs’ to a time when I had to be on guard to protect myself. I’ve come 99% of the way to knowing that but that’s where being a savvy owner comes in.

You see I have a bit of a quirk. When I’m sleeping soundly you have to announce that you are approaching so I don’t get startled. It’s really pretty easy. In Mom’s case, she claps her hands and says “Hello Dancer, here I am!” I then wake up, give her tons of kisses and we go off to do a walk, or a ride in the car, or have something to eat. (You get the picture, right?) Mom says I’m like a PTSD kid who needs to be reminded I’m in the ‘here and now’ not out on the street fighting to stay alive.

I’ve learned commands and am well mannered. I know I have to sit before I receive a treat or starting our walk. At night I sleep soundly in Mom’s room but not on the Big People’s Bed. (I get to rest there during the day if I’d like to though). I get along with my doggy foster brothers and would probably be equally happy being the center of someone’s world.

So if I sound like the kind of pup you’d like to meet, and if you are ready to be entertained and loved, please DO ask for me. And I’ll look at you with my big brown eyes and dance into your heart!

Tail wags and pirouettes,
Dapper and Darling Dancer

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dancer, a La Costa Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bichon Frise for sale in La Costa, or seeking a Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in La Costa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in La Costa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a La Costa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in La Costa paves the way for another one to be saved.
