Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Spotify is a 5 month old Black Lab-Hound mix who came into our rescue with her sister Pandora (who was adopted!). Spotify weighs about 45lbs and is expected to be in the 55-60lbs range when full grown. Spotify was the 'scaredy-cat' of the two. But she's now been in a foster for 3 weeks, introduced to other dogs, learning to walk on a leash and she's growing in her confidence. She needed to be separated from her sister so she could find her own confidence. She is with other dogs who are playful and full of life. She gets a bit overwhelmed by the big goofy lab who has about 25lbs on her and just doesn't get that he's too much! Too much! She is a good option for a confident dog in the home who wants to play or doesn't want to play but isn't a nonstop playing machine like her foster brother.
Spotify will still bark at strangers as if to say, 'Stranger Danger! Stranger Danger!' So it's important that her new home is experienced and willing to continue to help build her confidence. Her foster home has done a good job of exposing her to new folks and with each new one as long as they don't run up to her right away, she is learning to react less and less. The last one she almost licked to death but that's about as dangerous as she got with them! But it does take that home that is confident, knows dog skills and can keep working with her until she fully blooms.
Spotify is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids in the home they need to be teenagers or demonstrate that they are too very dog savvy and skilled beyond just having had a dog...
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
