Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Snowflake is a 3 year old female MaltiPoo. She has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. She will require regular grooming and we will look for an applicant that understands the grooming needs for dogs such as her. Snowflake is very sensitive. She's not a dog who strangers or folks she doesn't know can run up and just swoop up quickly. She is a dog who needs her people to be slow and quieter when approaching her initially. Now, obviously when she knows you, she doesn't care at all if you grab her quickly and she's going to be the first to jump in your arms. But it takes building some initial trust for that to happen.
Snowflake gets along with other dogs. She actually is pretty indifferent to them. She just ignores them. She happily co-exists with the foster dogs in her current home and everyone is very happy. She did seem to get a bit of joy though in rubbing all over their beds when they were out of the room. Shhh.
Snowflake is a quieter, sweet lap type of dog. She likes to go on walks and seems to walk pretty well on the leash. She loves loves loves to smell everything. She gets so excited when there are a lot of dog smells. Snowflake is an option to live in an apartment or condo setting. She's small and not a nuisance barker.
Snowflake is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. She will need an experienced home that understands her need for a soft touch initially. If there are kids in the home or visiting they will need to be teenagers.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
