I’m an older guy, but that just means I’m well-seasoned! I was found with a chain embedded in my neck, and brought in my someone who knew my owner. Dr. Creese took good care of me and got me healed up in no time. I love stretching my legs in the play yard, but I'm not a big fan of other dogs. I came in heartworm positive, and had to go through treatment. It wasn’t fun, but now I can run and play again! I’ve even been neutered and vaccinated. I’m ready to go home! Won’t you give an old guy a chance?

About St. Francis Care

About Our Shelter...

We are a no kill shelter. We house about 100 dog/cats at a time. We also house the first low cost spay neuter clinic in Southern Illinois. This service is offered to low income individuals who can't otherwise afford to spay/neuter their dogs or cats. We also have taken in injured animals and provide the medical care they need. Our veterinarian is on staff full time.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets can be visited at St Francis CARE Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30, Saturday from 8:00 to 3:00 and on the last Sunday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00. We also take some of our dogs and puppies to the Carbondale Petco the 1st and 3rd Saturday or each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process involves an application and contract.
All of our pets are dewormed, fully vaccinated (Distemper, Parvo, Bordetela, Rabies), microchipped, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are heartworm negative and cats are FELV/FIV negative.
The adoption fee is $250.00 for puppies and dogs. Although, we do have adult dogs who have been with us for an extended period of time "discounted" to $100.00 not because they are any less valuable but to encourage the public who is generally most interested in puppies to consider an adult or senior.
The adoption fee for cats & kittens is $50.00 for 1 or $75.00 for 2.
