Athena is a 3 year old beautiful female polka-dotted pit bull. She has lived a very sad life so far: she was tied up and left alone with little love or attention and was very neglected. Her purpose in life was to have babies. Yet she still has the biggest heart and loves people and wants to be with her people. She is reportedly great with other dogs (as indicated by her rescuers and people at her previous shelter), but a meet-and-greet between Athena and another dog here did not go so well. We will need to do more testing before adopting her into a home with dogs. Athena would do best in a home with no cats. She loves kids and loves being inside with her family. She appears to be very well mannered in the house and that's where she wants to be. Due to her anxiety of being tied up and left again, she needs to be outside on a leash, as she is an escape artist and wants to flee from the feeling of confinement, at least until she adjusts and knows she is safe. She's a beautiful, loving dog; everyone who meets her says the same thing -- "she just melted my heart" -- and that's exactly what she does. Athena's waggy tail and wiggly butt are the first things you notice about her. Her enthusiasm for meeting new people is incredibly endearing. Whoever adopts Athena will have a lifelong partner.

f you want to apply for Athena, please visit the rescue and fill out an application. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.
