Facts about Phil

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn - With Black
  • Age: Puppy
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Phil and his siblings were born on 9/22 in rural New Mexico. A loving volunteer took in a pregnant mom off the streets who had 9 babies total. She was overwhelmed by having 10 dogs to care for and reached out to a local rescuer for help. We are glad she did because we know these pups will LOVE Colorado! Mom looks like a lab shepherd mix and dad was a travelling salesman ;) We think they will be large puppies as they already weigh about 13lbs each.

They are arriving in Colorado on 11/19 and we would love for them to be greeted by their forever families. They are happy go lucky pups who will make great companions if given proper training and socialization. Phil and family went to the vet this week for vaccinations and are ready for travel!

If you're interested in adopting Phil or one of his siblings please email us at Thanks!

About Sunshine Canyon Dog Rescue

Our Adoption Process...

- Complete our adoption application.
- Email your finished application to Please put the dogs name in the subject line.
- Be patient & understanding. It may take a couple days for us to go through your application & get back to you. We are dedicated to finding the right home for each dog. The dog you are interested in might not be a good fit for you but that doesn't mean its the end of the road. We will work to find you a compatible dog!
- Upon approval we will discuss details of pick up & follow up care.
- Because the majority of our dogs come from out of state; most of our adoptions are done before you meet the dog. We make up for this by doing a mandatory 1 week foster period. We treat it like an adoption (w/ contract & payment) but you have a week to make sure its a good fit. If you decide within in the foster period that you are not compatible, we will reimburse your adoption fee. All we ask is that you continue to foster until we can find a forever home. Our adopters often say that our foster period is much better than a pressured 15 minute meet n greet in a shelter. We cover most medical costs within this week period.
- After the week period we are still a resource for you! We are always happy to help from training to kinds of dog food, we are here for you.
