My brother and I were not being cared for. We were brought to ECHS for medical care and to hopefully find new homes. If we cannot be placed together , please consider at least one of us. You can call the shelter at 269-749-9440 to find out more about us.
We are a small, volunteer based humane society. We have 1 full time employee, all others volunteer time to our shelter. Most of our animals come from animal control. We pull them before they are scheduled to be euthanized, provided that they do not have any severe temperment issues, then find them the homes that they are so deserving of. We are very passionate about animals and do not feel that there are "bad" animals! We are constantly looking for volunteers to help around the shelter with cleaning and caring for the animals. We also look for volunteers to come walk our dogs and help get them seen at our pet adoptions. Additionally we are also in need of board members; passionate animal advocates who are willing to contribute their professional skills allowing our board to grow and thrive.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We have a shelter in downtown Olivet, that is open to the public Monday through Friday, and weekends by appointment. Our business hours are Monday-Friday from 2-5 PM, and all other times by appointment. Due to our small staff, you should call the shelter first before visiting to ensure someone will be available to assist you.
We hold adoptions on various weekends throughout the year at PetSmart on Marketplace Blvd in Lansing as well as Petco in Battle Creek on Beckley Rd.
Our Adoption Process...
In order to ensure our animals are a good match with prospective adopters, our screening process includes a pre-adoption questionnaire to clearly understand the adopters' home and lifestyle. Each adopter is screened by the adoption counselor, carefully considering the information provided in the questionnaire. If approved, the adopter completes and signs the adoption contract.
Adoption Fees (January 2014) Kittens (0-12mths)……………$75 Adult Cats (1yr+)………………$50 Puppies (0-12mths)……………$125 Adult Dogs (1yr-6yrs)………….$125 Senior/Special Needs Dogs*…$50 Other small animals……………$10 *Special Needs is defined as an animal with a physical or mental disability or requiring medicine for a chronic condition.
