Facts about Diego

  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
I'm just walking down the street minding my own business and some guy comes and takes me away! Sure, I get good service here. Like they bring me meals without me even asking and I'll admit it's better than trying to jump in the trash can. Once I even got caught in one and it took me hours to get out. After all, I'm just a little guy. In human terms, they say 8 lbs. I'll also admit it's pretty nice being warm or being cool depending on the weather. I even get some attention from The Humans. I'll let you on in a little secret of mine. I'm kinda like the lion on the Wizard of Oz. If you think he was afraid of the monkeys, ...Well, let's just say I can be like that too. But if The Humans take the time for me to scout out the new place and the new Humans, it will be like I too met the Wizard. I'm a man of many affections with a great sense of humor and the babes used to love me. I bet you will too.

Diego was rescued off the streets and appears to have had a prior family. He walks well on a leash and stands on his back legs as a cute trick. He also plays a funny game with your feet. Though an incredibly affectionate dog, Diego lacks instant trust in humans. A fosterer told us it took about two days before he trusted her and then he turned into a huge cuddler. He is crate trained and almost fully house trained.

About Poochmatch

About Our Rescue Group...

I became involved in animal rescue because of the overwhelming number of stray animals I observe in less affluent areas of Southern California. I do what I do because I enjoy connecting all the dots - full circle - in terms of rescuing dogs, getting them cleaned up, treated medically and then adopted.

Poochmatch is a small rescue group with half-a dozen volunteers. Since our founding in 2006, we have done over 2,400 dog adoptions. We are on track to do over 300 in 2016.

We'd love to have more assistance. We need help administratively from individuals with computers, digital cameras and marketing skills. Please see http://poochmatch.com/volunteer.html for more information.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoption events are generally held every Saturday at Petsmart in Yorba Linda (Savi Ranch) 5521 Mirage Street from noon to 4 pm. To confirm we will be holding an adoption event, call Lydia at 714-241-9765.

Our Adoption Process...

We do not have a facility. Our dogs are in foster homes with volunteers.

All prospective adopters must complete and adoption application. Upon receipt and review (usually within 24 hours), a mutually agreeable appointment date, time and place will be scheduled. Prospective adopters must be receptive to a home check, sign an adoption contract and provide an adoption donation sufficient to cover the cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations and a microchip. The adoption fee for young or adult dogs is generally $225 - $275. The adoption fee for puppies varies from $325 to $425. The adoption fee always includes the cost of spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella), De-worming and Fecal Testing.
