River was found at the Crooked River Campground just outside of Montello, WI. Campers were there for the last time of the season on 10/15/2016. One family opened up their storage area just to see if they needed to do anything before leaving for the winter and there was River! If they had not opened that storage unit River would have been trapped in there for the long winter and died. They used a live trap to catch him and brought him to Little Orphans. He was starving and thirsty so he ate 3 bowls of food and drank and drank and drank. There is no telling how long he was in that storage area. We weren't sure if he was social so we left him in a cage overnight where he slept and slept. He must have been out on his own for a long time because he seemed to have lost his social skills. We just let him chill for a while and eventually he came around. He is now a wonderful, laid-back cat. Thought to have been born around 1/20/2015, River was neutered when he came to us. He may be a Manx mix or he may have suffered abuse because River has no tail and veterinery examination did not reveal which was the reason River would do best in a quiet home. He is now up to date on vaccines and microchipped. If you can find it in your heart to adopt this wonderful cat who needs you please go to our website, littleorphansanimalrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.
