Handsome Blaze is well-trained in all of the basics. He's crate and house-trained, knows commands, has good off-leash recall and even knows tricks. He is very loyal and good at listening to his person. He has been raised in a loving home, with a teenager and his littermate, Beauty.

Blaze is now looking for a home that has time and interest in providing some training to address his reactivity to other dogs (outside of his littermate, Beauty). He can be re-conditioned to improve, but his current family does not have the time or space to offer it right now.

If you're unfamiliar with reactive dogs, please read: http://www.ddfl.org/resource/understanding-reactivity-in-dogs. We believe Blaze has 'barrier frustration' and needs a dedicated adopter who will patiently guide him toward better behaviors. He would learn fast via a 'Reactive' class, geared toward this behavior and similar to what's described at: http://frogstodogs.com/training/.

Ideally, he would transition to a home with no other pets. His littermate Beauty is also reactive, so while they do get along with each other -- it may be a lot to take on the pair, unless you are fairly dog-savvy and have lots of time to offer to their training. We also see that dogs become less reactive and easier to train when their 'partner in crime' is removed.

Can you provide this highly-intelligent handsome lad with what he needs to be a most awesome companion?

Age: 3 years

Weight: 85 lbs.

Temperament: Enjoys people and older kids; not good with other dogs or cats (high prey drive)

Training: Housetrained, crate-trained, obedience-trained, good-off leash recall, knows commands and tricks

Vetting: Spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative

About Doggie Harmony

About Our Rescue Group...

Doggie Harmony is a metro-Atlanta dog rescue group focused on finding the right homes for dogs in foster care or belonging to owners who wish to re-home them. Our core objective is to place these dogs before they are turned over to animal control facilities, where they may be euthanized. Lastly, Doggie Harmony supports spay/neuter, wellness, and training to help keep or place dogs. This includes helping people find low cost resources and/or lending financial support where there's a qualified need.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

Doggie Harmony is an approved non-profit (501c3) organization, so your donations are tax-deductible. If you would like donate, you may direct funds to our address below, or to our PayPal account at donate@doggieharmony.org.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Doggie Harmony does not hold regular adoption events, so watch our website for special events. We also encourage you to contact us about pets you may be interested is, as we are always willing to bring them to meet you.

We do not have a shelter, so we are only able to support animals with foster homes or donations toward short-term boarding.

Our Adoption Process...

Those interested in our adoptable pets are asked to complete an application that will allow us to assess whether a particular pet is good fit for their household and lifestyle. If it is, we will then bring the pet to their home for a meeting. If all goes well, the adoption contract is initiated and a fee is collected, but held for two weeks to ensure the adoption is a success. Our fees vary depending on each pet and what has been invested medically and behaviorally to ensure they are adoption-ready.
