Bernadette is a petite, sleek, short-haired, black kitty. She is about 1 year old and weighs around 5 or 6 lbs. Her favorite pastimes are leaping across the room like a flying squirrel and finding things to scoot off of counters.  "Bernie" also loves sitting on laps. When I brought her home from the shelter, she unzipped my cat carrier and sat right down on my lap while I drove. She will perch nicely while you are working at a computer or while watching TV. She does NOT like to be picked up so wouldn't recommend her for a family with small children. It has to be her idea to snuggle with you, but, when she does she's very snuggly. She also likes to sleep next to her people at night, but isn't annoying about it. She will hop up quietly and lay down next to you. She gets very excited if she can have you all to herself with no other animals getting your attention.  The resident cats took awhile to warm up to her and the feeling was mutual.  She doesn't appear to need other feline companionship, but sometimes tries to engage them in a game of chase. Dogs don't concern her, but every now and then she gives them a swat to see if they will react.  She's not a talker like some cats, usually only when she knows you are about to open a can of cat food.  We haven't noticed any deviant litter box behavior, so assume she is being a proper lady and using it faithfully.  Bernadette is a typical young cat with a lot of energy and frequently just runs (or leaps) across the house for no reason. At the same time, she is an expert lounger.  Do you have room in your heart and home for our sweet Bernie?
