A Little Bit About Me

Jack is a small terrier with plenty of pluck. He is full of energy, playfulness, and loves to cuddle as well. As a terrier he likes to be in control but is adaptable to learning what you want him to do if you teach him nicely.

This little guy can be mouthy with your hands while interactively playing with toys. He also likes to chew on the leash and pull it away from you while walking on leash. More mature children over ten would do best with him. They need to let him know that the play session is over if his mouth touches their skin. Also, only adults should walk him on leash.

Jack seems very interested in other dogs. However, he growls and stiffens his body as he gets closer to them. With the one dog he was more receptive to, he tried to control her and was unable to figure out how to play. We are hoping he can meet a nice dog who is nonthreatening to him and who might patiently teach him what good manners are. He would like to know how to play with other dogs. Meanwhile, dog parks and free dog areas are not the places for Jack.

Luckily, Jack adores people, more than most dogs. He is very active, loves to play with you or with fun toys (not balls, it seems), and enjoys a cuddle on your lap as well. That's a well rounded dog! He has not had the benefit of education, so put him into Small Dog Class right away. You wiil learn how to make sense to him so he can understand the training; your bond will tighten while you achieve a well mannered dog. Take advantage of the dog classes at Marin Humane Society; Jack would do well in Scenting and most other classes. He is smart, athletic, motivated by food and toys, and will be happy to please his people.

About North Bay Canine Rescue & Placement

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
