A Little Bit About Me

Take some time to hang out with Zack; it takes him a little extra time to show you his personality. We consider that he has a terrier look about him, and maybe some Dachshund and there could even be some Australian Cattle dog in his mix. He is middle-aged, so you don't have to worry about that puppy stuff. Zack just needs to lose a little weight before he looks just perfect!

This little guy has lived all his life with one person and is now shy about opening up his social world. A nice quiet household will be best for him; he gets pretty scared when there are sudden noises or movements. Since children are normally pretty quick to move, and make unusual noises at times, Zack needs to live with adults only.

He may do best with another dog, if they like each other. He lived with other dogs his size previously, and liked the small dog he met with us. Another dog can sometimes help a new dog to learn to trust people more quickly, which would be a great benefit.

Confidence building through Small Dog Classes will help with bonding, too. We think his tail will be up and wagging once he knows how much fun learning is, and that he has a great team on his side.

Mental stimulation is mighty important for dogs, as well as exercise. A nice walk around town daily will suit him well with an eye on the daily caloric intake as well. If training, use great treats that he likes. But consider feeding a little less in his bowl.

Zack is just beginning to show his true character. We hope you will be able to see the grand future we think he has if given patience, education and the attention he deserves.

About North Bay Canine Rescue & Placement

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
