Phantom was born approximately July 12, 2015.  She came from Craig with her sister, Carmel .  After a rough start in life, she was initially bottle-fed and then sent over to Ketchikan to a foster home with SOFA. These two sisters were then transported to Juneau to a foster home who ended up adopting them. However sadly, after 9 months the foster family's life circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for the girls. As is SOFA's policy, Phantom and Carmel came back into our care. They are looking for a quiet, loving home who will give them lots of love and patience to help them adjust. Phantom is the more timid of the two girls , however she has a bunch of purrs to give! Both girls would do best with a stable routine and a family to call their own.

Please note that SOFA pets may be housed in foster homes in Juneau or Ketchikan, AK, but SOFA is open to adoptions throughout SE Alaska.  We try to note the foster location in each pet's description, but if you are unsure, feel free to email us.

If you are ready to adopt, you can find SOFA's online adoption questionnaire at  Once you fill out this form, an adoption counselor will contact you by phone, usually within 5 days.  If you do not hear from SOFA within 5 days, please email us at to make sure that your form was received.  You may also email us with any questions you may have.

Thank you for considering adoption!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets are housed in foster homes in both Juneau and Ketchikan, AK, and we do not have a shelter or other physical location. We hold adoption events periodically at local pet stores in Juneau. If you are interested in meeting an adoptable pet, please email to arrange a meeting.

Our Adoption Process...

Okay ... so you have browsed our photos of adorable, adoptable pets, and you are thinking to yourself, "I think it is time to grow my family!" You may be wondering how you DO that. Let us explain SOFA's adoption process (it may be just a little different than what you are used to).

#1 - Take five minutes to fill out an Adoption Questionnaire -- you can do this online through our website (, or you can print a PDF to fill out by hand and send to us by mail or email. Once we receive a questionnaire, we will assign an adoption counselor to your application.

#2 - Your adoption counselor will contact you (usually within five (5) days) to discuss your and the pet's individual needs and personality traits. This in-person or telephone interview helps us insure that you and your new pet will be happy for years to come. In some cases, your adoption counselor may recommend an in-person meeting between you and the pet, as well as your family (including other pets), etc., to help determine compatibility. Your adoption counselor is an excellent resource to answer questions about adoption, pet care, and many other topics -- we encourage you to contact your adoption counselor if you have any questions or concerns.

#3 - Once you are approved to adopt a pet, you will be asked to fill out an adoption agreement, which clearly defines your responsibilities to your pet, as well as SOFA's commitment to you and your pet. Adoption fees vary depending on the type and age of the pet you are adopting:

Kittens under 4 months old - $100 each or $150 for two
Young cats 4 months to 2 years old - $85 each or $120 for two
Adult cats over 2 years old - $65 each or $80 for two

Puppies under 6 months old - $150 each
Young dogs 6 months to 4 years old - $125
Adult dogs over 4 years old - $100

#4 - The final step of our adoption process is the delivery of your pet to your home. In many cases, your pet will be delivered by your adoption counselor, but sometimes it will be another SOFA volunteer. Either way, personal delivery of your pet helps us insure that you and your pet can make the best transition possible and is an opportunity to answer any last minute questions you might have. It is also an opportunity for our adoption counselors to make suggestions based on your individual situation to help smooth the introduction of your new pet. For these reasons, whenever possible, we will personally deliver your pet to your home.
