Blacky's Story...
Meet Blacky. Blacky is a 2 year old Labrador retriever. Blacky is full of energy and love. He will need a family that will make sure he gets the exercise he needs. He would do well with a family that likes to run or hike or both. Until we took him in he was a backyard dog on a chain. In his case that means we are still working with him as far as learning manners. He is getting better on a leash but does still tend to pull. He does love everyone and everything. He has no problem with cats, other dogs, children, or adults. He really just want to love on you and play.He loves running around with something in his mouth, like a stick or a ball. We are trying to use that by rewarding him with a tennisball when he has done something right.

Blacky is heartworm negative, up to date on shots, wormed, neutered, on preventions, and microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blacky, a Carthage Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Carthage, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Carthage.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Carthage already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Carthage breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Carthage paves the way for another one to be saved.
