Hello friends! My name is Cookie, and I am one cuddly little ball of kitten love coming to you from the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. A kind friend of King Street Cats realized a while ago that we island kitties are remarkably personable and lovable and make exceptional family members. KSC gives me the bright future that I would not have otherwise.

Like the island kitties who have preceded me, I am long and lean like a little greyhound. I have an open, friendly and loving disposition. I am very affectionate and huggable – I love to snuggle and cuddle with my human friends. I love to play and entertain myself with my kitty friends here at KSC. I am a lovebug who loves both humans and fellow felines in equal measure. I'm also as silly as can be and will have you laughing in no time. My KSC volunteer friends know they can count on me for entertainment and smiles - all this from a tiny girl who's made a long journey to be with you. It just shows you what an incredible spirit I have.

It just so happens that I am as cute as a little girl can be. I've got silky, soft, short fur snowy white with jet black patches. If you're thinking that I might look like a furry little cow with this color scheme, then you are as silly as I am and I know we'll make a great pair! I have bright white whiskers, a white sweet face that will fit into the palm of your hand nicely, stylish and symmetrical black patches over my ears and head and other little surprises that you'll adore. I've got a pastel pink nose to nudge you with and bright lively almond-shaped gold eyes that take in all the action around me.

I'm still a kitten, and a very active one at that. I need to be adopted into a home with other accepting, playful and active kittens or young cats – or – now here's a wonderful idea… you could adopt me with another deserving KSC kitten who is also waiting for a forever home. My volunteer friends here will be happy to introduce you to some of my favorite playmates with whom I would pair nicely.

Not for a minute do I want you to be daunted by the prospect of adopting two kittens together. This is actually beneficial for all of us. As a young and energetic girl, I require same-species companionship. I need another friend with whom I can play, exercise, groom, snuggle and comfort when you can't be with us. We'll be right there to greet you with a double dose of enthusiasm when you return. You will be able to go about your human activities with peace of mind knowing that we're taking care of each other.

Please come to meet me – and meet my little friends. I can't wait to go home and spread my sunny personality throughout your home. It's easy to get started: send an email to and ask for me, Cookie. It's time to cuddle, snuggle, play, love and laugh!

Affectionately yours,
Cookie 2016

About King Street Cats

About Our Shelter...

We are proud to be the only cat-exclusive orphanage in Alexandria, Va. We have been in operation since 2003, and were previously known as The Albert Foundation for many years before becoming King Street Cats. Because we are a free-roaming and no-kill cat orphanage, we have the "cat-friendliest cats" in town! Our primary purpose is to educate and assist the community in regard to cat welfare, and to provide loving homes for the cats and kittens in our care. We accomplish this through outreach to the local community by providing information on proper cat care, behavioral problems and medical issues involving cats. We also assist local residents in locating and retrieving lost cats and assist individuals through the cat adoption process. We provide abandoned and rescued cats and kittens with a safe and secure temporary home until a permanent, loving home can be found.

We promote spaying and neutering and all our cats and kittens are sterilized and fully up-to-date on all medical care prior to adoption. We also provide post-adoption support for adopters and anyone else that needs cat care advice. Because we only work in the area of cat welfare .... we know cats! Please stop by and visit with our friendly cats.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoptions at 25 Dove St (the King Street Cat home) are every Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 pm

Additional Adoption Events:
- Petco at Beacon Hill on the first Saturday of the month (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
- Profeed at Bradlee Shopping Center on Saturdays and Sundays (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
- Petsmart at Falls Church on 3rd/4th Sunday of the month (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is simple. When you come to the adoption center, you will fill out an application and a volunteer will interview you and ask about your cat knowledge and experience as well as your other pets. If your application is approved, they will help match you to the cat is perfect for your home and lifestyle. Some adult cats may be adopted singly, but we prefer to adopt out kittens in pairs unless you have a playful cat or dog already in residence to keep the kitten company.

King Street Cats asks for a $125 non-refundable adoption fee to adopt a cat or kitten, or $225 to adopt two. The fee includes:

- A cat that has been to a vet and tested for FELV/FIV. They are not put up for adoption unless the tests are negative (although sometimes we do have an FIV-positive cat that is healthy and can be adopted).
- An adult cat that is up-to-date on vaccinations before being made available for adoption. (Kittens will have had vaccinations appropriate for their age)
- Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption. Kittens are spayed/neutered between 12-14 weeks and are then available for adoption.
- Post-adoption support: our volunteers are very knowledgeable about cat care. We encourage adopters to call us with any questions.
