The ship has pulled into port and Billy our new little pilgrim has disembarked! Just in time for turkey! This 20 pound, 10 year old, neutered male Boston Terrier was picked up as a stray in Downey. Poor little guy had a mass on the side of his head, flakey fur and an irritated right eye. The shelter quickly got in touch with Boston Buddies & our Director set out on the journey to rescue Mr. Bill and get him to the vet for his much needed medical care. The mass was completely removed, we are happy to report it was benign. He had a complete dental which included getting 2 teeth pulled. Then it was off to his new foster home and a trip to the ophthalmologist. It was determined that his right eye has corneal degeneration and will probably always require medicated drops. The eye doctor compared the vision in his right eye to looking through a dirty, foggy windshield – it is visual– just not crystal clear. He sees well out of his left eye and has no problems finding his way around. In fact he absolutely loves exploring and taking strolls through uncharted territory. The transition into his new foster home was smooth sailing. Billy Boy gets along with other dogs, sleeps in his own dog bed and is very self-sufficient. He is not a needy, Velcro dog, in fact it seems he enjoys some “time to himself”. Did not take him long to figure out the doggie door and has not had any potty accidents. Totally cooperative for bathing and grooming. His foster Mom just ordered some special shampoo to help his coat be flake free but we figure with a healthy diet his coat will be soft and shiny in no time. Billy is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, fecal and heartworm tested (both negative) and microchipped. Billy is a great travel companion and he would love a journey over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. If you have been looking for a holiday companion, then look no further – Billy would be so thankful if you went to our website and completed an application to adopt - Adoption Donation is $150.00

About Boston Buddies Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Boston Buddies is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing Boston Terriers who are abandoned, neglected or abused and placing them in permanent, loving homes. Our ultimate purpose is to match homeless or potentially homeless Boston Terriers with loving, permanent families specifically interested in the breed. We do not have a brick and mortar kennel facility. Instead, we provide our rescue dogs with temporary foster care in private homes located throughout Southern California where we can assess their personality and preferences. All of our dogs are examined by a vet and provided all necessary medical treatment, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and put on heartworm preventative.

Boston Buddies is always looking for volunteers to help with shelter checks, transport and foster home care. We invite you to visit our website –

Our Adoption Process...

Boston Buddies adopts its dogs to loving and caring homes located in Southern California. We do not place our dogs in homes with children under the age of eight. The first step in adopting a Boston Buddy is to submit an Adoption Application which can be downloaded at our website, After a home visit with one of our volunteers and approval of the Application we will arrange meetings with dogs that will be compatible with the approved adopter. An Adoption Application and Adoption Fee is required, as well as follow up visits.
