Franco the Fabulous!! Well, we think he is, and if he is not he is certainly on his way there despite the rough start this little guy was dealt. Franco is just a year old and a tiny(skinny) 6 pounds. He landed at a shelter, where they took terrific care of him, however the noise and commotion was simply overwhelming for this tiny boy. We were more than happy to take Franco home and let him settle in. Franco is actually a gregarious little guy, loves the other dogs and enjoys running and playing with the crew(most of them much bigger than him!). He was a little hesitant of us at first, who can blame him, he has obviously not known a lot of love and comfort. His coat had to be sheered down because it was so matted, he is rail thin but we are working on that and he has a terrific appetite. I tried to put a sweater on him since it has cooled off and he slapped it right out of my hands-haha!! I had big plans of a little photo shoot with Franco is a cute Christmas sweater-NOT! Franco is becoming more and more relaxed with our attention and hugs, he will lean into us and fall asleep with the right neck massage. He will do well with a home that has tons of time to spend, Maltese are great companions and being left alone for long hours will be a step backwards for this sweet boy. Franco is doing great with his housebreaking BUT we are also very cautious and keep an eye on him and make sure he goes outside frequently. He was recently neutered and still felt the need to mark a couple times in the house. So, he will need a family that understands housebreaking is a process, he totally understands but still needs reinforcement. We have a bunch of goodies to go with Franco to his new home to help him settle in, maybe he will spend this Thanksgiving with his new family!!?? His adoption fee is $475. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. (Franco's adoption fee will help many needy dogs and cats coming into our rescue)

About Eye on the Sparrow

About Our Rescue Group...

All of our pets are in foster homes, from Sheridan to North Aurora, IL. We take in many special needs dogs, some physically, mentally or behaviorally challenged. Some of them have been abused or neglected, many are seniors, most just need some understanding and patience. A lot of them have never heard a vacuum before or even felt a kind pat on their heads. Fostering them prepares them for the life they so richly deserve when a kind person adopts from us. When you adopt a shelter dog, you are making a giant step in reducing euthanasia for all these great dogs looking for a home. It is not their fault, it is the fault of the human that previously was involved in their life. Thanks for checking out our website, maybe you will find the pal of your dreams.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an online application on our website, sparrowdogs.com. Requirements vary as per the individual dog's needs as far as time alone, children, other pets, fenced yard vs. leash walking and such. Our adoption donations can range from $99 for less adoptable/older dogs, and higher for puppies and other highly sought after dogs(which helps us take in needy often medically challenged dogs and cats.)
Our contract states we have the right to visit the dog, check up periodically as well as take the dog back if necessary. We get first right to the dog if adopter chooses not to keep him. We want all adopters to realize this is a serious commitment and want our dogs to go to safe, loving homes.
