Facts about Chiffon

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: White (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: DD
  • Hair: Short
Chiffon is a 5-7 year old Piebald female. She was picked up as a stray by our local Animal Control. Her owners did not claim her so we took her into foster. Chiffon is calm, quiet, and tidy. She enjoys snoozing in a sunbeam or lounging on her human's lap. Once given a chance to adjust, she seems to be able to adapt to pretty much any environment. Although she prefers a nice quiet one. She is tolerant of other cats, and as long as other cats in the household are also calm, Chiffon would do fine in a multi cat setting. However, we believe that she would do best as an only cat. Dogs are okay, as long as they don't bother her. We would like to see her in a home without small children, just because we think that she would prefer a nice, calm retirement. Chiffon has been spayed and is up to date on all vaccinations (Fvrcp, Feline Leukemia and Rabies) and has tested negative for Feline Leukemia. Do you think that your home is the one for Chiffon? If so, email today for an application!

Please, you MUST visit the following link BEFORE emailing for further information. If you'd like to find out more information about our adoption procedure or to apply for this cat visit http://www.poochesonthemove.net/dixie-pet-underground.html
Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application, or visit our website at www.dixiepetunderground.org.

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the cat/kitten and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.
cats and kittens are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and Feline Leukemia negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your cat or kitten at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $225 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.
Our cats and kittens are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the cat or kitten leaves rescue.

All of our cats and kittens come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a cat or kitten from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the cat or kitten that you welcome into your family.

Our cats or kittens are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the cat or kitten before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the cat. We have had several hundred cats adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy kittens and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the cat and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a cat and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right cat for your family!

About Pooches & Purrs Cooperative - Harrisonburg, VA

About Our Rescue Group...

Pooches & Purrs Cooperative is a group of rescues and individual rescuers that are working hard to find loving homes for the dogs, cats, kittens and puppies that find their way into our care through no fault of their own. Each individual or group has several wonderful dogs In Tennessee, Alabama or Kentucky looking for homes! All of them are completely vetted and neutered/spayed (if age appropriate) and on heartworm protection. All of them come with complete medical records. Their adoption fee of $500 covers their complete age appropriate vetting and heartworm preventative as well as their transportation to your area.
Our rescues don't have an actual shelter building in the New England area. Due to this it is not always possible to meet them prior to their adoption. At times, a dog may be in foster care in New England and their bio will clearly be marked as such so you will know. These southern dogs & cats are brought up to their new owners weekly! We have a 14 day money back guarantee and the pet can be rehomed appropriately if things don't work out. Each group tries hard to get good matches in your homes so that everyone has a happy life together! To date the cooperative has placed over a two thousand dogs and puppies, cats and kittens in loving New England homes! Each group has many, many, references of happy adopters up in your area that can fill you in on their experience. Just email and they can pass along that information for your convenience. Thanks!
