Facts about PIXIE

  • Breed: Pomeranian
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Meet Ms Pixie. She is a six year old, 8.5 pound, beautiful Pom. She came to us from a commercial breeder and has done wonderfully in rescue.

Pixie is very sweet. She LOVES everyone that she meets and dances and spins for attention. She is great with dogs of all sizes and cats. She loves attention. Her favorite thing is to be held like a baby for tummy rubs. She is a lap warmer and a bed snuggler. She loves her rides in the car and her walks.

Pixie is crate and leash trained. She is working on house training and about 90% there but her future owner will need to make sure that training is completed in her new home.

Pixie will need a calm home with another stable dog to emulate. She absolutely has to have a physically fenced yard or fenced area that leads directly from a door into the house. She will need someone that can spend time with her as her time before now was spent without human companionship for 6 years and she craves it. Pixie's forever owner needs to be someone not working a typical 8 hour day, someone that works very part time - only a few hours a day - or someone that works from home or is retired. She is not a candidate for a split shift home. Pixie will do best in an adult household but would be fine with visiting children.

At Star-Mar we are natural care givers. Pixie has been on a species appropriate diet; no grain, raw. Her's has been a dehydrated raw BY Honest Kitchen but there are many options from fresh raw, to frozen raw, freeze dried or dehydrated. We do blood titer testing instead of randomly vaccinating and only vaccinate should titers show they are needed. We do not use any toxic flea or heartworm preventative and place our dogs in homes that are either already natural care givers or are willing to make that switch. We do not advocate no vaccines or no vetting but only when necessary. We protect our dogs from diseases and parasites but do it through non toxic products. Our dogs are living in toxic free environments and living healthy, active and disease free into their late teens and early 20's. We'll show you how....

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment can meet Pixie's adoption requirements please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Pixie's adoption will require an approved application and home visit. The adoption must be completed with the adopter coming to the foster home. Adoption fee is $275.

About Star-Mar Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Star-Mar Rescue is a member of Rescue Alliance of Hairless and Other Breeds, Inc. ( www.rescuealliance.org) a 501-C-3, non profit organization. Star-Mar Rescue is run by Martha Leary, assisted by dedicated foster providers, friends and family and is located on 26 rural acres in beautiful Wayne County Ohio. Aside from placing our own dogs, Star-Mar helps to place hundreds of dogs every year into other rescues by assisting in pulling dogs from shelters and from commercial breeding kennels/puppy mills. We take dogs into our program from shelters/pounds/humane societies, surrendered by owners and from commercial breeders. Star-Mar never pays an individual or breeder for a dog and never buys dogs off of Craigslist.

Our Adoption Process...

If you have taken the time to consider adding a dog to your family we would like you to know that we have the advantage of being able to expose our dogs to many different situations; children, strangers, other dogs, cats and livestock, inside living and outside living, fenced and not fenced. We are confident that Star-Mar is able to give the potential adopters broad information on each dog so that a good choice can be made. All dogs and puppies leave spayed or neutered (regardless of age), are heart worm negative, have a negative fecal and have all their shots including a current rabies. Puppy mill dogs will have a negative Brucellosis test. The adoption fee from Star-Mar Rescue is $225. You must come to the foster home to meet the dog and we do home visits prior to adoption. If you live further away we have a home visit done by an area rescue. All other dogs and outside cats in your household must have a current rabies as required by law or a rabies blood titter. No other vaccinations are required. Resident dogs do not have to be on commercial heartworm preventative but must have annual heartworm checks done and ALL dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered regardless of age! Please e-mail learymjri@aol.com for an application.
