Facts about Sassy
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
I am already spayed.
Sassy is a large, beautiful, and gentle tortoiseshell female kitty with a soft meow that will win your heart. This 5-year-old girl was relinquished to WCDC when her owners' property management company changed and decided that the family could no longer have a cat. Sassy is on the overweight side, but is healthy according to her vet check-ups and labwork. She has been on a diet in her foster home, and has already shed several pounds. Sassy likes to give kisses and head butts, and will fall asleep in your lap afterwards (she is a wonderful lap kitty). She likes to lay on your chest and snuggle, and will drool a bit when she is super happy. She is good with people, including children, but is stressed by other cats and would do best in a single-cat home. In her original home, however, Sassy lived happily with a large dog. She also likes to play with fabric ribbon toys, and is fascinated by feet and by shoes. She enjoys being brushed, but is not a fan of being picked up. She is quiet and sweet, but can meow if she is closed off from her humans. Sassy is such a loving and friendly cat that needs a home where she can snuggle up and be petted, and get all the attention that she deserves. Sassy is part of our Bring Joy to Your World Adoption Promotion with Best Friends Animal Society and her adoption fee is just $25 for the month of December. She has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (she is negative), spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Sassy is currently in foster care. To meet her or for more info, please call Beth at (541) 255-9296.
Our mission is to provide care and find loving homes for companion animals of our community, with a focus on those with special needs. Currently we only work with Cats. We offer temporary housing in foster homes until they can be placed through our adoption process. We have adoption centers within both Petsmarts in Eugene, at Chad Drive, near Costco, and 29th and Willamette; PetCo by Valley River Center and Wags Emporium on Coburg Rd. WCDC works with humane societies, other animal rescue groups, the public and government animal services agencies to offer them relief from their overpopulation problem. All cats in our custody receive the medical care they need. WCDC is a non-profit organization. All money raised is used to help WCDC save as many animal lives as possible.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our cats can be seen at Petsmart on Chad Drive and on Willamette St, at Petco near Valley River Center and Wags Emporium on Coburg Rd, seven days a week during normal business hours. We do have adoption counselors available on weekends or by appointment or from 11-4pm Sat.-Sun.
Our Adoption Process...
All potential adopters are required to complete our application and contract. Our contract stipulates the requirements for care of our pets. These documents are available through e-mail or at our adoption events. The documents are reviewed by our staff and together with a face to face interview we explore the potential new home. If all parties agree to the specifics of the contract the dog or cat can go home. Adoption fee varies with age of pet. All pets are current on vaccinations, health checked by our veterinarian, De-wormed, treated with flea medication, spayed or neutered, and cats are felv/fiv tested.
