Meet Jake. He has quite a story to tell. One that will end with a Happy Ever After fairy tale kind of ending.
You see, Jake is the most loving and loyal boy you will ever meet. He loves his foster brother, Rango, and credits him with teaching him how to be an indoor dog, who loves toys and loves to "rassle".
We will keep the back story brief, Jake and his sister, Maggie, were dumped in a wooded area in East Texas when they were just pups. A Good Samaritan befriended them and began feeding them. Maggie was the brave one, and Jake followed her lead. Once captured and brought to rescue, it was clear that Maggie was emotionally stronger and was adopted right away. Jake went to a FABULOUS foster home who has worked diligently on his fears.
Jake is now ready for adoption! He knows all of his basic commands and walks well on a leash. We believe he will always enter new situations cautiously, but with confidence. He has made an amazing recovery from his stressful beginning in life.
Jake will thrive in a quieter home with a stable routine. Teens or older kids are fine. While Jake takes a little time to warm up, he is friendly and once he knows you, will like to snuggle by you and sleep with you if you let him. If uncertain, Jake will flee, not fight.
Jake needs a yard to exercise and play. His mix of German Shorthaired Pointer (with Springer Spaniel) is one of the ten healthiest breeds. His coat is smooth with minimal shedding. Very easy to groom with a wet cloth makes his shiny coat gleam.
We believe an older, confident dog who will be is "rassling" buddy would be great for Jake. He doesn't always need a "wingman", but life is a lot more fun with one.
He will make an amazing dog for a family. Our fosters and volunteers have done an amazing job helping Jake develop into a confident and happy dog.
Jake's approximate birthday is July 31, 2015.
