From Ginger's owner:

She is house broken(never had an accident since we've had her) - will whine to go out, good in a bath, good on a leash, good with cats and dogs (we have a pit and 3 cats), good with kids (we have a 14 month old girl, a 4 yr old boy who is rambunctious, and an 8 yr old boy).  She is good at the dog park and gets along with everyone, loves to travel in the car even long trips. She is fine being left in the car (of course when the weather is appropriate - not to hot or cold) while going shopping etc. She will sit in the front seat and people watch while waiting for you. We have taken lots of trips and she does great. She is also crate trained and we would be happy to give the large wire framed crate/tray and her dish to whomever takes her if it is a good fit.  She is fine with being crated over night, or during the day if you are gone; won't bark or carry on, also fine sleeping on the floor by the bed or on the bed if someone allows. She will try to go up on the couch or bed but all you have to do it point and say " Ginger  down" and she will get down. Going into the crate we say "where do good dogs go" and she will run to her crate. But once that time is up we don't want to keep her bouncing back and forth so they will have to decide.

Ginger 's History: 3 years ago we adopted  Ginger  from a rescue in Columbia, SC.  They told us that she has been dropped off in the parking lot over night and they found her running around loose when they arrived in the am so they didn't have any information on her. They were guessing she was around 1 year (and considering that we went through the chewing stage I would guess that was about right). They thought due to the facial marking that she had some shepherd in her and she has a couple purple spots on her tongue so she has some chow but don't know her breeding for sure. I included the paperwork from her adoption (Pets Inc) - see attached. We kept her shots current in SC and she just received her shots with you in Sept of this year. Attached a picture so you can find her in your system. Of course we have her registered with Roanoke County until December 2016 as well. Attached a picture of that tag.

Going into the crate we say "where do good dogs go" and she will run to her crate. We are not in a hurry to have her out of the house and would be happy to keep her as long as it takes to find the right home. Also if there is someone who wants come visit her at our house or take her home for 24/48 hours to see if she is a good fit for them that is fine; we will take her back if it is not a good fit. But once that time is up we don't want to keep her bouncing back and forth so they will have to decide. Since she has already been abandoned I want to make sure she finds a good home where they will love her and she will not end up in the pound or a shelter.

Our Adoption Process...

Find the pet for you at the Adoption Center:
Angels of Assisi’s adoption center is open from 12-6pm, 7 days a week. Adoption Specialists and Volunteer Ambassadors are eager to help you find the pet that would fit best in your family.

Adoptable Pets in Foster Homes:
Some of our available pets are currently in foster homes. If an animal is currently in a foster home, it is noted in the animal's biography online. To meet a pet in foster care, please fill out a non-binding adoption application, and the foster parent will contact you to schedule a meet and greet once the application has been approved (generally within 24 hours).

Found the perfect addition to your family? Now what?
The next step is to fill out an adoption application. You can complete and application online (preferred) or stop by the adoption center to fill out a paper application. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. If you rent your home, we will need to contact your landlord or see a copy of your lease to verify the pet policy. Most applications can be approved within 24-48 hours.

Taking Your New Pet Home
After paying the adoption fee and pending the approval of your application, you may take your new pet home immediately. Adoption fees may vary and can be found on our website at:
