Facts about Mr. Mom

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 10720RG
  • Hair: Short
Mr. Mom is one special guy! He is around two years old and was abandoned in a condo development in Telford where a kind woman fed him and his new family. Tragically their outdoor living situation became very dangerous because the condo association threatened to fine their caretaker for feeding them and a neighbor threatened to poison them. They needed to be rescued, and when their foster mom saw what an amazing dad Mr. Mom is to his kittens, she took in the whole brood.

What makes Mr. Mom extra special is his relationship with his three kids. All of the kittens bonded to him instead of their mom! Their foster mom has never seen anything like it. He clearly loves being their dad and is never happier than when he is purring while he rubs on all of them and they bump heads and twine their tails together, just a few of the ways that they show off their family bond.

Another way that Mr. Mom and his kids are special is that they are understandably shy and cautious with new people. Because they lived outdoors and only interacted with their caretaker, they need some time to adjust to new people and situations. They watch their foster mom very carefully to make sure she is safe and kind.

Routine, good food, patience, and a gentle voice and hand are the keys to earning their trust, and once they bond to their new families, they will be fiercely loyal and loving. Mr. Mom allowed some scratching on his ears and chin after just a week, and when petted on his terms he will purr and purr. His big round cheeks are the result of not being neutered until he was an adult, and they are one of his best features!

Please consider giving Mr. Mom and his family a chance! They have been through so much and would really love to find their new families soon so that they can build trust with them and know that have found their forever homes. They need adopters who understand it will take time to earn their trust. Here are the links to his kittens:

They would be thrilled to find outdoor, indoor/outdoor, or indoor-only homes! They would be ever so grateful for any opportunity to move into the next chapter of their lives.

About Stray Cat Blues

About Our Rescue Group...

Officially, Stray Cat Blues, Inc. is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing rescue and placement to stray, abandoned, and feral cats. Personally, SCB is a small group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to find loving, life-long homes for cats. We are professional in our practices, but we are emotional on the subject of homeless cats, and the ways in which we humans can work to prevent this epidemic of strays.

Stray Cat Blues actively works to find permanent homes for the stray cats in our program. Our kittens and cats are exposed to the pet-loving public at our different adoption locations (see Come Meet our Pets section below) to facilitate adoptions and to provide visibility for our organization. Our cats can also be seen online at www.adoptapet.com.

Most of our cats offered for adoption are strays and their offspring that are rescued off the streets.

For those stray cats that are more wary of humans, especially feral cats, we can help humanely trap, sterilize and either return them if the area they live in is safe and they are being fed, or we house them and adopt them out as barn cats.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an application with vet references or a home visit. All the animals are screened for feline leukemia and FIV, inoculated, sterilized and wormed when they first come to us. Healthy, adoptable cats and kittens are then housed through our network of foster homes. Our adoption fee is only $95. (Fee can be paid by cash or check at our Petsmart North Wales/Montgomeryville location. At our Collegeville location, the fee can be paid by cash, check, or credit card.)

If you are interested in adopting a cat, you can find our online adoption application at our website - www.straycatblues.org. On the side of the page there is a section labeled Quick Adoption Links. Click on the link for application to adopt a House Cat. Click on this link, fill out this short form, and be sure to click Submit at the bottom. One of our Adoption Reps will then contact you within a couple of days to guide you through the adoption process.

Alternately you can complete a paper application at Petsmart when we have SCB volunteers present (see times for adoption showings). Questions - email us at: savingstrays@yahoo.com. We are happy to answer general questions, and also put you in touch with the foster families for questions about specific cats.
