Dog Name: Lewis
Suspected Breed(s): Miniature Pinscher/Feist Mix
Age: 8 months
Weight: 18 lbs
Personality: Outgoing, Trainable, Playful, Adventurous, Friendly, Energetic, Brave, Quick Learner, Smart
Observations with Dogs: Lewis gets along great with the foster family’s dog and loves playing with him despite being much smaller than him! Lewis is interested in other dogs and is very playful, though at times can be dominant. Lewis is working on his introductions to other dogs on leash because he sometimes barks.
Observations with Cats: Lewis would do best in a home without cats; he is too interested in them.
Observations with Kids: Lewis would do well in a home with children who are a little older. He is a very energetic puppy and has not learned to play gently yet.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Lewis goes into his crate easily and settles down very well! He sleeps through the night in his crate and waits for his foster parent to wake up in the morning.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Pickens County, SC
Additional Information: Lewis is an energetic and inquisitive puppy. He loves playing with toys and investigating new and interesting things. He doesn’t let his small size stand in the way of satisfying his curiosity. He often stands on his hind legs to get a better view of things! Lewis is very smart pup and will respond very well to obedience training. He knows the command "sit" and is working on the command "crate". He is a respectful roommate, sleeping peacefully through the night and waiting patiently in the morning for his foster family to wake. Still a puppy, Lewis likes rough and tumble play. He is still learning how to curb his rambunctiousness in playing with people. His confidence and playfulness will bring his new family new adventures every day! Apply today to meet Lewis!

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet. Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.

City Dogs Rescue is a rescue, not a shelter, and our dogs are located in temporary foster homes in the Washington, DC metro region. Adoption fee, home visit, and application required. CDR charges an adoption fee of $395 unless specified. This fee typically includes health care provided before adoption: all age-appropriate rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention prior to adoption, spay/neuter procedure, microchip when available, SNAP test for parasites, initial health check vet visit when going from the municipal shelter to City Dogs Rescue, and pre-adoption health care for dogs over the age of 1 year as needed. For puppies too young for spay/neuter: The fee is the same but does not include the cost of spaying and neutering.
