Meet beautiful sisters Bayley and Sasha! This pair is an instant-family for some lucky adopter. Their foster parents say they are the gentlest, quietest, sweetest cats they have ever fostered. They have a calm energy, and enjoy people without being demanding. Bayley and Sasha both greatly enjoy being combed and petted, showing their pleasure with loud happy purrs. They also enjoy watching birds out the window and sniffing fresh air when the weather is nice.
In late April 2016, we received a plea to help this pair of 16 year old cats who had been surrendered to a rural Wisconsin shelter. Their elderly owners could no longer care for them, and the sisters were devastated to lose the only family they had ever known. A shelter is no place for geriatric cats, and the girls needed to get to a foster home ASAP. As soon as we said yes, our friends at Badger Rescue Animal Transport Services got them to us the very same day.
Bayley and Sasha tolerate the calm, senior big dogs and other geriatric cats in their foster home. They have found younger foster siblings and gregarious foster siblings of any age quite bothersome, so we certainly recommend they only go to a home with very calm cats that will leave them be.
Bayley and Sasha are up to date on vaccinations, have had senior blood panels performed, and both had dental surgeries in May 2016. Bayley has had some recent health challenges with poor appetite and blood in her stool. Her ultrasound suggests possible irritable bowel disease, some liver changes including a nodule, and early renal degeneration. We are currently planning a treatment of probiotics, a twice daily medicine (metronidazole), and B12 injections. Sasha's kidney disease is further along. Her new home should be comfortable with administering sub-cutaneous (sub-Q) fluids when she needs additional fluid support. We know this is a lot to ask of any adopter. If you are not in a position to adopt, please consider a donation to their long-term care in their foster home. https://www.gofundme.com/bayleysasha
Splitting the two girls up is not an option after they've been together their whole lives and are never far from each other. We are hoping someone special will open their heart and home to these sweet girls and give them a wonderful retirement home within a two-hour radius of Madison, WI. Bayley and Sasha will turn 17 in 2017!
All cats/kittens are up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, spayed/neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped prior to going to their new homes.
You can visit Bayley and Sasha at their foster home in Fitchburg with an approved adoption application.
