**Libby is currently being fostered in Houston. She is available for out-of-state adoption to the perfect forever family! Unfortunately, meeting Libby in person prior to her adoption will not be possible. Her adoption fee is $500USD, which will cover her transport to her new home and she is of course fully vetted. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable. **

Libby came into our lives by chance. We were at the shelter to pick up a different dog, when a family came into adopt it. Wanting to get as many dogs out of the shelter as we possibly can, we decided we would get a different dog instead. That's when we saw our sweet Libby. Curled up in the back of a dog run. Sad. Dejected. Terrified. The shelter staff told us they were going to euthanize her because they didn't feel she was "very adoptable" - well, we had other ideas! We got her to her foster home where she got a good scrub, a good sleep, and some good food. After about two days, she woke up a different dog. Happy, excited, loving, and ready for her real life to begin!

Libby is an approximately 6-8 month old Heeler Mix. She is currently about 30 pounds and should stay on the medium size, arond 40-45 pounds fully grown. She is a great size dog for any living situation or family dynamic.

Libby is an active breed mix, so she will be best suited for an active family who is committed to getting her proper exercise and socialization. Libby will be a great match for anyone who loves to run, hike, or camp and then snuggle at the end of the day. Libby should be adopted by a family who plans to keep her as an inside dog and not planning to leave her alone unattended for extend periods of time outdoors (for example the entire work day).

Libby is kennel trained and is about 90% house trained. She will let you know when she needs to go outside, but her new family should understand that dogs can take a few weeks to acclimate to their new homes and environments. This may include having accidents, crying in her kennel, and getting into things she shouldn't. Libby should be adopted by a family who is willing to give her the time she needs to acclimate and use positive reinforcement during the process.

Libby is fully vetted and healthy (shots, spayed, microchipped, and dewormed). She is heartworm negative and has no known health/allergy concerns.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application which can be found on our website If you hover over the “adoptables” tab, the application will appear for you.
Our team processes applications within 5 business days of receipt and we can usually have adoptions finalized within 7-10 days. Adopters should be in a position to pay the adoption fee and take possession of the dog within 14 days of application.

About Reggie's Friends - Calgary

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on street dogs and shelter cases that other rescues may not have the resources for. We live and love by our motto Street Life To Sweet Life.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application that can be found on our website at under the Adoptables tab. Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit. Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age.
