Twiggy is a happy, playful puppy.  She is always excited to meet new people, children, other dogs and cats, and will lick you like crazy if you'll let her.  She likes to chew on bones and sticks and play tug of war.  She loves to chase squirrels and lizards.  She is a fast runner and once caught a squirrel in her foster's back yard!  She only got the squirrel's tail, but she was very proud of herself.  She is smart and a quick learner!  Twiggy enjoys training time and is learning to sit, look at me, leave it, drop it, stay; and play fetch.  She keeps herself busy outside for a while, but also loves to lay at your feet and take a nap.  She barks when someone comes to the door, she sees someone on a bike or motorcycle or when she is not allowed to meet a new dog while on a walk. She walks well on a leash, but sometimes she's not in the mood for a walk.  She is not crate trained and currently sleeps on a bed with her favorite children (ages 7 and 9).  Twiggy is less than a year old and weighs about 14 pounds and is almost there on the house training.  Twiggy's perfect home is one where she would have considerate children and another dog to play with and a family that will allow her to be part of their daily activities.  A cat would be fine if the cat would tolerate her playfulness.  Please come to Petco on Saturday to meet Twiggy!
Adopter for Twiggy must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old.  A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home.
Adoption fee for Twiggy is $175.

About Second Chance Pets

About Our Rescue Group...

Second Chance Pets (SCP) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization dedicated to providing unwanted pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs, educating the public about proper care for their own animals and about animal welfare issues, and working with the public, other rescue groups, and public officials to help resolve the problem of animal overpopulation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Most animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday at the Petco store at Bay Area Boulevard and Space Center Boulevard. A few cats may be seen during the week at the Petco location

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete applications so that volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP volunteers review the applications and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. The adoption donation typically starts at $95 for cats and $125 for dogs.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed, neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP-C and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes when available to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.
