Lucy's Story...
Lucy is an 8 year old female Shih Tzu. She weighs around 10lbs. Lucy came to our rescue group when her family could no longer care for her anymore. Her favorite toy and best friend "bunny" came with her an she likes to carry bunny around the house. Foster mom reports that Lucy is a big snuggler and such a happy girl. She is crate and potty trained and loves to meet new people. She gets along well with other dogs as long as they are not too bossy. With bossy dogs she can be a bit timid. Lucy's new family will need to keep up with her grooming as she is a breed whose coat requires this to keep her healthy and comfortable. We also feel that Lucy would do best in a home without small children.

Email us at to meet Lucy. Her adoption fee is $200 and includes age appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, and heartworm testing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Overland Park Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
