This beautiful girl has been with us for a long time. She arrived with a bite of undetermined origin and so had to be placed on a six-month hold to make sure she is alright. What did we find? Uma is more than alright. She's a peach of a dog. She's a Pittie mix who is about six and a half years old. It's true that Uma has to go to a special, dedicated home: no dogs, no cats and adults only. But what a lucky home it will be. Uma is a bit of a diva, it turns out. Personality plus. She loves going on walks and she loves to stop on those walks and roll on her back while you give her belly rubs. Uma loves her treats, loves the pool and, most especially, loves love. We are looking for special people who will provide Uma, who had a rough start, with a happy and secure future.

Our Adoption Center receives almost 4,000 unwanted, neglected or abused animals in our region each year. We provide each one with a warm bed, loving care and take every step possible to place them in the best possible new home.

Behavior Training for Pets:

All training classes at the NHSPCA are designed to help you develop the skills needed to make living with your dog pleasurable and much easier. The NHSPCA uses a method of training known as Positive Reinforcement. Whether you want to start your new puppy out on the right paw or work on improving your adult dog's behavior we have the perfect class for you and your four legged friend.

Humane Education & Community Programs :

The Humane Education program of the New Hampshire SPCA encourages children and adults to develop and express attitudes of compassion, kindness and respect for all living things. Our ever-growing list of programs and workshops are a fun and interactive way to explore the interdependence between humans and animals while learning how to create a more humane community.

Cruelty Investigations & Advocacy:

Since 1872 animal cruelty investigation has been one of the cornerstones of the NHSPCA. Today our services encompass an even wider range of activities. In addition to investigating hundreds of reports of suspected animal neglect or abuse every year, our agent works with other humane organizations to develop and strengthen legislation that protects animals throughout the State of New Hampshire.

Developing a Solid Foundation for Animal Care:

Our donors are some of the most caring and dedicated individuals you will ever meet. You can become involved in financially supporting the NHSPCA in a number of ways: make a donation, participate in a fundraising events or include the NHSPCA in your will. These are just some of the ways you can support our efforts. Each gift, large or small, makes a difference in the life of an animal and the community we live in.

Our Adoption Process...

Helping You Make the Right Decision - Adoption Counseling
Our overall goal is to make sure the animal you adopt is well suited to your lifestyle and that you are ready for him or her. When you visit our adoption center our knowledgeable staff will be happy to answer any questions and help you choose the right animal. These Adoption Counselors will assist you by discussing your interests, needs and lifestyles and then matching them with those of the companion animals in our shelter. The Counselor will read through the adoption application materials with you so it may simplify things for you to have the form completed before you arrive.

Please see our website for our adoption fees.
