Jax is a wonderful older guy who was found by one of our volunteers wandering Broadway in Gary, IN. After reporting him to the local authorities and shelters with no calls back, we are in search of a great retirement adoptive home for him.

Jax gets along with everyone, other dogs, all people, and children too. He's a medium size boy weighing about 40 pounds. Jax loves to be pet and enjoys lounging in his comfy spot in the living room. He's a joy, loving and engaging but not needy or whiny.

Jax will be neutered this week. His adoption fee of $150 includes his neuter, microchip, vaccines, a fecal, heart-worm test, and a dental.

If you're interested in meeting/adopting Jax please read all about adoption with Happy Tails and fill out an application here:

Happy Tails Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue based in Munster, Indiana. We have no shelter, all of our animals are cared for in loving foster homes until their forever home match is found. All of our animals are fully vetted before adoption, including distemper, rabies, and bordatella vaccines, a heartworm test, fecal test, microchip, and are spayed/neutered. Adoption fees range from $150-$350. If you're interested in meeting one of our animals please fill out an application first. If approved we will then arrange a meet and greet. Happy Tails does not do same day adoptions because we do a short home visit to make sure our animals are being placed in safe environments.

About Happy Tails Rescue Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Happy Tails Rescue Inc. pulls dogs at risk for euthanasia from Northwest Indiana shelters, humane societies, and animal controls, fully vets them, and finds them loving forever homes. There is no shelter, all of the dogs are fostered in screened loving foster homes until they find their forever home. This can take a week to many months. In addition to rescuing dogs from the shelters for Happy Tails Rescue, we help spay/neuter animals in need as funds allow, and help coordinate shelter animals into placement with other rescues. On average Happy Tails helps move 5-10 cats and dogs who would otherwise often be euthanized out of the shelter each week and into Chicagoland and Indianapolis area rescues.

Our Adoption Process...

How the Adoption Process Works:
Everything we do is aimed at giving our dogs the best possible chance of finding a loving permanent home.
-Before meeting the animals, we ask that you complete the Online Adoption Application.
-Once your Application has been received, you will have a phone conversation with a Happy Tails volunteer.
-Once you’ve been approved, s/he will fill you in on the personalities, history, and behavior of the animals to allow you to make the best choice possible for your living situation. You can ask them any questions you have regarding health, behavior, and long-term care.
-Then you and all members of your household will be invited to visit the dog. If you decide you want to proceed Happy Tails Rescue will conduct a home visit.
-At the home visit, if you decide adoption is right for you, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee which covers the spay/neuter, wellness exam, vaccinations, microchip, dental (if needed) and heart-worm and fecal tests. We will also register the dog's microchip together at that time. The cost for this is $10.99 and you will need a credit or debit on hand.
-You will always have continued support from us after your adoption. We invite you to contact us at any time with questions or concerns.
